Early DTM Series - Round 5 Recap - Suzuka

on Sun Apr 01, 2018 3:17 pm

Round 5, the penultimate round of FPLR's Early DTM Series saw us  make our way to Suzuka, Japan, where we find the famous circuit that holds the likes of Formula 1, WTCC, Super Formula, and after much hard work for a one off this year, we are seeing the Forza Pro League Racing Vintage DTM series in Japan.

Going into this round, RTP Sellaman01 holds a 14 point lead over LEWI KILLS 4FUN, and then its only 2 points to third place for SEAN S 91.

RTP Sellaman01 has won every race and put it on pole every qualifying session so far this series, can he keep his clean streak going, or will the likes of SEAN S 91, maybe LEWI KILLS 4FUN, or someone else is going to spoil the day for Stellaman?

As it turned out, it was Ultra Boris777 which spoilt Stellaman’s run, taking pole position decisively, with a gap of nearly 4 tenths back to SEAN who joins him on the front row.
Row 2 was taken by LEWI and Stellaman being nearly 7 tenths off the pole position time.
Big Toobs and Rampant Robbo, lined up on the 3rd row, with MDH Sambo208, and FRD Mr Angry on row 4, with Daddy Stig71 lining up behind Mr Angry. Those two seem to be inseparable, having had some epic battles this series.

The BMW drivers were complaining on the radio to the garage about lots of oversteer, and as the tires wore out on the Alfa’s, they suffered enormously with understeer.

The Alfa Romeo certainly had the top end speed down the main straight and also from the run out of the Spoon Curve, and through 130R, but the BMW’s were visibly so much faster through the Esses, Degna’s and the hair pin.

There were epic battles right through out the race, with the under cut, and over cut strategy tried out. Ultra Boris777, Sean S91, and Lewi Kills 4Fun, were inseparable, Rampant Robbo and Sambo208 battle went on for the last 10 or so laps, swapping panels and paint, but only for Rampant Robbo to come on in front of Sambo. Mr Angry and DaddyStig kept each other honest as always right to the last corner, when they both came across the Ai of Ultra Boris which Daddy Stig was able to get past, but Mr Angry wasn’t able to. Stellaman finished in 4th, having run to long on the first stint, and lost so much time from worn tires. He was mostly in fresh air throughout the whole race.

Only 1 round remains in the series. Next week we head back to the UK to the home of motorsport - Silverstone!!

Stellaman needs to place 4th or higher at Silverstone to secure the championship, but as its been shown here in Suzuka today……maybe, just maybe someone else can take it to Stellaman.
